Meet Stone Constructions Queensland

Meet Stone Constructions Queensland, a small, dynamic team of expert stonemasons. We love working with homeowners, designers, cabinet-makers and builders to transform homes through stunning stone enhancements.

Stonemasonry is an art.

We don’t just cut and install stone. There’s an art to what we do. From sourcing and selecting the perfect stone for the project to cutting it to the correct size, we focus on maintaining the aesthetic. We then seal or put the perfect finish on the stone.

Our history

2010

Our founder, Tim Cantrill finished his apprenticeship and gained his contractor’s licence.

2010

2010 – 2014

Subcontracting to large stonemasonry companies, Tim worked on high end homes, heritage buildings, gravesites, and universities in Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

2010 – 2014

2011

Following the 2011 floods, Tim worked as a subcontractor on restoration jobs like repairing the damage on the riverbanks and the Brisbane Casino Hotel. This built the foundations of Stone Constructions Queensland.

2011

2015 – 2017

Tim started working with another stonemason, contracting together and running their own jobs, they worked on commercial installations and high end homes.

2015 – 2017

2017

Tim took on employees as Stone Constructions Queensland. We continued working on and coordinating jobs, moving away from subcontracting.

2017

2018

We took a lease on a commercial property, giving us a home base which allowed us to store stone and cut and manufacture it for our own jobs.

2018

2019

With three employees working together on the bigger jobs, we took on more work and grew the business through our network and word of mouth.

2019

2020

We purchased and installed a large bridge saw, creating a stone workshop at the business premises, increasing and improving our ability to take on a wider variety of work.

2020

2023

We have moved into a new era for the business, in a new premises, with new advanced stone manufacturing equipment. Our team has expanded again: now 3 tradesmen and 2 apprentices working together.

2023

2024

We added a state-of-the-art 5-axis CNC waterjet, further expanding our manufacturing capabilities and enabling even greater precision and versatility in our stonework.

2024

We are qualified to complete your project.

There’s a misconception that stonemasons don’t require the same licenses or qualifications as other trades because we’re just working with stone. We absolutely disagree. Our entire team is backed with the relevant licenses and qualifications to achieve the perfect outcome for your next stone project.

Meet our team

Tim Cantrill

Our founder, Tim’s been working with stone for 17 years. He’s been loving the new dolomites and quartzites that have come onto the market. Tim loves the way these stones are being used as feature pieces, like artwork in your home. When he’s not at work, Tim’s usually working on his own renovation project or out in his caravan with friends and family (and the dogs, of course).

Jamie Prebble

Jamie’s been crafting beautiful stone fixtures for 21 years now. He loves working with sandstone for its versatility and the way it complements the Australian landscape. Jamie lives on the Gold Coast and loves getting out on the water. On his weekends, you can find Jamie in the great outdoors, fishing with his sons, or at the footy supporting the Magpies with his family and friends.

Lachlan Chisholm

Stonemasonry Apprentice

Lachlan started his apprenticeship in Stonemasonry with us in 2022. He is learning quickly and has become very competent on the new saw. Lachlan’s favourite stone is marble for the fact that no two slabs of have the same grain or colour. He loves seeing the light reflect over a newly installed marble benchtop. When not at work, Lachlan enjoys building lego models. He follows the NRL and is a big Broncos supporter.
